About Tunes for Tykes
Tunes for Tykes began in 2015 at Rough Trade in Williamsburg, with one simple idea: bring families together through music. What started as a small neighborhood gathering quickly grew — and today, our classes span more than five locations throughout Williamsburg and Greenpoint.
When the world shifted during COVID, families still needed connection. That’s when our donation-based music circles in McCarren Park became a lifeline. Parents and children came together outdoors, singing and dancing in community when it mattered most. These circles are still a beloved part of what we do.
Now, Tunes for Tykes has grown beyond classes with our YouTube channel, where many of the songs played in class are also available for free online. It’s our way of keeping the music going at home — and ensuring every family can join in, no matter where they are.
From a record shop to parks, studios, and screens, Tunes for Tykes has always been about the same thing: timeless music, strong community, and memories families carry with them long after the last song ends.
